Lynden Real Estate
Lynden is a quaint town with 'old world' charm, located just five miles south of the Canadian border in northwest Washington. This part of Whatcom County was a popular destination for Dutch immigrants during the first half of the 1900's and today there are many buildings and businesses in Lynden that reflect this heritage. Lynden is situated along the expansive Nooksack River Valley which, along with the town's Dutch heritage, led to an early establishment of numerous dairies. Lynden is also known for its many berry farms, as well as its beautiful and meticulously maintained gardens.
As one of the few places left where most stores are closed on Sunday, Lynden offers an escape from fast-paced city life. However, urban amenities and excitement are only 25 minutes away in Bellingham, or less than 2 hours away in downtown Seattle or Vancouver, Canada. Although known primarily for its Dutch architecture, homes in the Lynden area range from classic west-coast style bungalows and ranchers to condos, to spectacular stone mansions.
Many properties in the Lynden area afford residents breathtaking mountain views, while others reflect the European traditions brought here by early settlers. Residents here are known for the pride they take in their lawns and flower beds, and this garden-glory does not end at the garden path; it continues on into the home itself. Hence, Lynden is home to some of the most attractive properties in the Pacific Northwest.
